Reward offered for Earlswood shop attackers

A LONE shop assistant was threatened with a golf club when three men burst into a village store on the outskirts of Solihull.

Thieves entered the Co-op convenience store, also known as a Star News shop, in Umberslade Road, Earlswood, at about 6.45pm on Monday. (September 8)

The apprehensive male assistant, who was working alone at the time, was threatened and told to get down on the floor.

Soon afterwards, the robbers fled with the till draw containing cash - and a quantity of cigarettes. They made their getaway in a white Transit van with a distinctive dent in the driver's door.

No-one was injured.

The thieves were aged 18-25 and wore black clothing. The shop was open as normal yesterday.

Warwickshire Police have began house-to-house inquiries in the area and want anyone who saw suspicious activity - or maybe had seen the van earlier - to contact them on 01926 415000.
