EMERGENCY services were called to a reported multi-vehicle crash at one of the busiest road junctions in Solihull but it involved just two cars.
A Vauxhall Corsa and a Land Rover Discovery were in collision where Hampton Lane crosses the A41 Solihull By-pass shortly before 6am last Friday (December 11). Both drivers were injured and the road was partly closed for a time.
Fire crews from Solihull, Hay Mills and Bickenhill were alerted and assisted paramedics and doctors at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “There were a number of vehicles, including a car transporter, in the area, but the casualties came from a car and a 4x4 which had collided.
Both vehicles were badly damaged.
“The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, had a serious head injury. He was treated at the scene and immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to Heartlands Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
“The driver of the 4x4, a man in his 50s, had no significant injuries, but was taken to Heartlands Hospital as a precaution.”
An incident support officer, a rapid response vehicle, emergency doctors, two ambulances and the West Midlands Ambulance Service’s medical director attended.
The initial report was that six cars and a lorry had been involved in collision.
