BIG hearted Rotarians struck a blow for charity when they handed over the proceeds from a fundraising boxing evening.

Stewart Hawkins, President of the Rotary Club, of Solihull St Alphege, was on hand to present a cheque for £4,000 to Sarah Wakeman, from the Marie Curie New Hospice Big Build Fund, at its site in Marsh Lane.

The money was raised during the club’s charity boxing evening last year, and also included £1,000 raised by Solihull Junior School.

This year’s boxing event is at the National Motorcycle Museum, Bickenhill, on Friday, February 24, from 7.15pm, when boxers from Solihull ABC, will once again be fighting for the Big Build Appeal.

The club would welcome sponsors for the event, and tickets and information is available from Ian Benjamin on 01926 886601 or e-mail ianbettine21@btinternet.com
