A round a county is key to Frank’s golf challenge

PENSIONER Frank Miller has played a round of golf in every county of England in a mammoth mission that raised more than £10,000 for charity.

PENSIONER Frank Miller has played a round of golf in every county of England in a mammoth mission that raised more than £10,000 for charity.

The 77-year-old retired quantity surveyor from Solihull collected £10,947.50 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and Help for Heroes.

The golf fan, who has a handicap of 19, played 39 rounds between July 4 and 30.

Frank walked 200 miles and drove 3,100 miles without a caddy, teeing off at Waterstock Golf Club in Oxfordshire and ending at his home course Copt Heath Golf Club in Knowle.

The challenge follows a previous golfing feat in which Frank, at the age of 75, played a round of golf in all four countries of the UK during the daylight hours of June 23, 2008.

Frank said: “Ever since my fundraiser three years ago, people have asked: ‘What are you doing next and when?’ And after much thought I hit on the idea of playing in every county in England. I had an incredible time travelling around the various courses and the response from people at home and around the country was amazing.

“I’m delighted with the amount raised for these very important charities and would like to thank everyone who supported me.”
