SOLIHULL Council has confirmed arrangements for waste and recycling collections during the Christmas and New Year period.

The collection schedule will be as follows:

Monday, December 24 Normal collections

Tuesday, December 25 and 26 No collections

Thursday, December 27 and 28 Normal collections

Saturday, December 29 Collecting from Christmas Day

Monday, December 31 - Normal collections

Tuesday, January 1 - No collections

Wednesday, January 2 onwards - Normal collections

From December 27-January 11, Solihull Council will collect up to two extra bags of refuse per household.

Residents should place any extra rubbish in bin bags and leave them tied up next to their wheelie bin or purple sack.

Any extra recycling will also be collected during this period, but this should not be put in bin bags as crews will not be able to tell it apart from household waste.

Finally, the council will collect real Christmas trees with household waste until January 11. All decorations should be removed and larger specimens broken in half.
