I, LIKE Peter Kennedy and many other residents’ across borough, had no refuse collected for three weeks due to the “adverse” weather conditions.
As Mr Kennedy rightly points out, milkmen, newspaper delivery boys etc all managed to get down the untreated side roads. All my music students made it to my house for their weekly lessons and my husband managed to get off the drive and across 15 miles of often untreated back roads to drive to work on the Warwick Science Park.
But a thumping great refuse truck, probably the best vehicle apart from a tank to be driving in that weather, could not manage it! Unbelievable.
To add insult to injury, I watched in resigned amusement as the operatives collecting the glass and cans systematically went to every household on my road, picked out the glass and threw it in the truck and left all the cans behind in the black boxes! I immediately e-mailed the Council about this via their specialist Recycling section on their website, but I never even got the courtesy of a reply.
