NEW Lion Jo Lewis was out with her trainer, the Running Lion, last week stepping out for her regular jog to get fit for this year’s Knowle Fun Run on Sunday, May 10.
“I took up running last year when I reach 50,” says Jo. “I managed to complete the five mile course in a little over an hour, now with more training this year I’m confident of doing a better time this year.”
Since last May Jo has joined the Lions with her husband Steve, both getting involved in the months of advanced planning with Knowle and Dorridge Lions and looking forward to the day.
“There is a fantastic atmosphere running in the Knowle Fun Run, with traffic-free streets lined with hundreds of residents and supporters cheering you on,” says Jo. “Last year over 2,000 runners raised a magnificent £50,000 for charity. This year it’s in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, Whizz-Kidz, Lions Campaign Sightfirst 2 and local causes, and with entries coming in fast it seems likely we shall have another sell out. Last year there were lots of disappointed runners who failed to enter before all the places were taken up in mid April. So if you are thinking of joining this fantastic community event please go on line and enter now at www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk now”.
