It’s National Bike Week in Solihull next week and there will be lots of encouragement to get people to ditch four wheels and enjoy the freedom and sheer pleasure of cycling.
This Sunday, June 19 Tudor Grange Park is the place to be from 11am to 3pm where there will be cycle training for children and adults, a Dr Bike surgery for advice on maintenance and repairs, plus a host of weird and wonderful bikes to entertain the crowds.
Meanwhile down in Shirley, Red Kite Cycles is hosting a range of activities.
On Tuesday, June 22 they will be repeating their popular evening bike ride for women only, leaving the shop at 6:30pm for about an hour and a half.
The Belles on Bikes event is around local lanes and is for any woman regardless of their ability or experience and staff will be on hand to advise on how to get the best out of their bike and enjoy their cycling.
On Wednesday, June 23 the shop as usual will be open until 8pm and there will be an opportunity to test ride some of the Red Kite bikes (subject to two forms of identification) and learn about the Cycle to Work scheme - plus there will be free coffee.
On Friday, June 25 the Velocity Health and Fitness Cycling Club regular ride will be leaving from the Village Hotel at the Green Business Park at 6:30pm.
This will be for about an hour along the local lanes finishing back at the hotel where there is ample bike parking.
