PROFESSIONAL dog walker Sarah Humphreys was one of ten super-slimmers commended at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old from Solihull won £1,000 after she was named ‘Entrepreneur Slimmer of the Year 2011’ at the Rosemary Conley Slimmer of the Year awards, after shedding ten stone.
In the past Sarah had turned to food for comfort and would binge eat in secret.
After being made redundant she joined the Solihull Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Club and went from a size 26, weighing more than 21st, to a size 12, weighing 11st 11lb.
Sarah, who has dyspraxia, which means her co-ordination is impaired, and dyslexia, had been overweight all her life and faced bullying from a young age.
She said: “Winning this award is a fantastic thing for me.
“It’s made me self-confident for the first time in my life and after all the put-downs I faced when I was growing up, I’ve finally achieved something I can be really proud of.”
Sarah started walking to help with her weight loss and a friend suggested that as she liked walking and loved dogs, she should make a career out of it. So, when she advertised her professional dog-walking services, her business immediately took off.
Rosemary Conley said: “The standard of entries was so high we had to create more categories to reward these amazing slimmers, who between them have lost an astounding 100 stone.”
