Schools' backing

CAMPAIGNERS from a Dorridge action group opposing current plans to build a supermarket in the village have hit back following our front page story last week.

DROVS (Dorridge Residents Opposing Village Superstore) claim that despite our straw poll of people mainly supporting the revised plans for a Sainsbury’s store, their website has seen a surge of support for a smaller supermarket in recent weeks.

The group also say that two local schools, Arden Academy in Knowle and Dorridge Nursery & Infants and Junior schools, have written to them with concerns about the size of the store and possible parking problems.

A spokesperson for the group said: “It’s heartening to hear from so many new supporters.

“Clearly, the more people see of the plans, the more it’s dawning that they’re not right for Dorridge.

“One man rang to thank us for pointing out the car-park is on the roof of the store which wasn’t clear in the Sainsbury’s drawings.”
