A ROBBER got more than he bargained for when he tried to snatch the handbags of two women who were in a Solihull pub last Friday evening (November 12).
The man, thought to be in his early 20s, had a cigarette stubbed into his face as he attempted to grab the handbags of the friends as they were in the smoking area of the Olton Tavern in Lode Lane.
Police now hope someone will recognise the freshly-scarred attacker.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Christopher Ainslie, said: “We’re fairly sure the attacker will have a very noticeable burn scar underneath his right eye.
“The two girls were enjoying a weekend drink when the man set upon them. He certainly got more than he bargained for: they refused to give up their bags easily and he received an injury that hopefully will help us identify him.”
The man is described as having an olive skinned, smooth complexion, very slim build and around 5ft 5-ins tall. He was wearing as ‘beanie’ style hat and black zip-up hooded jacket.
He eventually got away with the victims’ Nokia and Samsung mobile phones.
If you know the man contact DC Ainslie on 0345 113 5000 (ext: 7921 6725) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
