THE search is on to find Solihull’s best pint puller.
The competition, organised by the Solihull branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, is looking for members of the public up and down the borough to nominate the barman or barmaid who for them serves up the perfect pint.
The top nominees will then be visited by a mystery drinker who’ll see if they’re up to scratch.
The event coincides with Local Pubs Week, which runs until March 13, and aims to raise the profile of local hostelries and quality beer.
Solihull Camra chairman Carl Wright said: “This isn’t to find the best pub, or the best beer – it is to recognise the bar staff themselves.”
Judging criteria are a warm welcome, efficient service with a smile, a full pint in a clean glass and advice on choice of drinks.
“Any customer can nominate a member of staff (or several) who they feel provides great service and deserves recognition,” added Carl.
Entry forms are available from local landlords or at www.solihullcamra.org.uk and the winning person – the Perfect Pint Puller – will receive a certificate and dinner for two at the pub of their choice.
There will also be three prizes for those who submit nominations, selected at random, of a gift pack of three beers from a local brewery, three pints in your local or a donation to charity.
The closing date is March 13 and more details are available on the Solihull Camra website.
