Second Songs of praise for Alice

ST ALPHEGE songbird Alice Halstead will once again be performing on Songs of Praise this Sunday.

ST ALPHEGE songbird Alice Halstead will once again be performing on Songs of Praise this Sunday.

It’s almost a year since the 15-year-old won Radio 2’s Young Chorister of the Year contest and since then she’s sung at venues up-and-down the country.

And it won’t be the first time that she’s appeared on the BBC series - she performed on the programme earlier this year.

Alice said: “My year of being Young Chorister is nearly over, but I have had so many incredible opportunities. It will be hard to knuckle down to school work now for my GCSEs next summer. I will really miss all the exciting broadcasting trips.”

Among the highlights of the last 12 months have been performances at St Paul’s Cathedral and Birmingham Town Hall.

And before the end of the year, Silhillians will be able to hear her contribution to Karl Jenkins’ Christmas CD - due for release in the late autumn.
