Serial burglar gets four years in prison

A PROLIFIC burglar who targeted homes in Solihull and Birmingham has been sentenced to four years at Warwick Crown Court.

A PROLIFIC burglar who targeted homes in Solihull and Birmingham has been sentenced to four years at Warwick Crown Court.

Steven McGarry from Pitmaston Road, Hall Green, had admitted two burglaries and had a further 19 offences taken into consideration.

The court heard that the 34-year-old had stolen electrical items and jewellery from a house in Acheson Road, Hall Green sometime during last December.

He then broke into another house later that month, using the victim’s car to get away with more jewellery.

Sgt John Jacob from Birmingham East CID said: “We have had two prolific burglars sentenced in as many days, and I think this shows how our dedication to catching these criminals.

“We investigate all reported burglaries thoroughly, using forensic evidence and looking for specific patterns used by individual burglars. However, information from the community about who is committing burglaries is always massively helpful.
