IT’S ‘snow joke’ - the bad weather may have been great fun for youngsters but borough services have seen some disruption this week.
StreetCare staff at Solihull council have been diverted from normal duties to clearing snow and gritting in the following areas in North Solihull; OAP complex areas, Chelmsley Wood Town Centre, Kingshurst Parade, Arran Way shops, Chester Road shops and Marston Green shops.
The south of the borough has seen footpaths around Solihull Hospital,OAP complex areas, Solihull town centre, Shirley High Street, Balsall Common, Hobs Moat shops, Olton shops, Dovehouse Parade and Meriden village cleared.
Waste and recycling collections were suspended with Thursday’s refuse now set to be collected on Thursday January 14.
Extra vehicles will be provided .
Residents who normally have their refuse collected tomorrow Friday (January 8) should have their waste collected as normal.
If the main service cannot be provided, the council say they will arrange for smaller vehicles to transport waste not in wheelie bins to larger vehicles on the safer routes.
Decisions on collections for next week (January 11 onwards) will be taken following a full review of weather conditions tomorrow.
Residents should continue to check Solihull Council’s website www.solihull.gov.uk for further information, or call 0121 704 6000.
