A BRAVE eight-year-old, who battled back against cancer, has received an award - recognising her immense courage.

Jazmine Lewis, from Henley-in-Arden, was given a Little Star Award - an honour from Cancer Research UK.

The youngster had been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma - which affects the bone or soft tissue.

To begin with, the cancer was in her leg - but later spread to other parts of the body

“At that point the prognosis was horrific,” said mum Jade, who nominated her little girl for the award.

“Jazmine was six-years-old at the time, but she knew exactly what was going on.”

But the schoolgirl battled through several operations and months of treatment and recent scans show she’s in the clear - although she will still need operations.

Paula Young, from Cancer Research UK, said: “Jazmine is an amazing little girl who has had to put up with the kind of intense treatment that any adult would struggle to cope with.”
