IT’S becoming increasingly obviously that developers simply won’t take no for an answer.
The latest incident involves Sainsbury’s appeal against the refusal by Solihull planners to put one of their supermarkets in Haslucks Green Road.
What do Sainsbury’s not understand about the decision? Over 400 local people objected to the proposal and Shirley already has no end of supermarkets.
Next, factor in the number of road accidents on Haslucks Green Road and the likelihood of more traffic using it once Parkgate opens, nevermind the disruption its construction will bring.
True, a local Sainsbury’s would be convenient for local residents, but Haslucks Green Road already has a thriving group of shops and the last thing they need is a national giant muscling its way in.
There comes a tipping point where choice becomes saturation, becomes domination and then finally becomes no choice.
It’s about time Sainsbury’s and their ilk got the message.
