Shopper finds heart-shaped potato on Valentine's Day

A HALL Green mum found a heart-shaped potato while shopping for her husband’s Valentine’s Day meal.

They say the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so when Naomi Bassett spotted the special spud at Tesco in Hall Green, she knew she couldn’t have found a better dish for her husband Mason. “My husband normally does all the cooking but I’d wanted to make something for him,” said the supply teacher.

“I went to grab the new potatoes and there it was, a cute little heart shaped one. I thought this was so perfect for Valentine’s Day.

“I was so exciting I was almost hyperventilating. I grabbed another shopper who agreed and showed it to the lady at the tills.

“I haven’t told my husband yet, it’ll be a surprise but he loves a good potato. He’ll be really pleased.”

But unfortunately for Mason, her daughters Tabitha Belle, aged three, and Amelia Rose, seven, have already staked their claim to the special spud.

“My husband probably won’t get any in the end,” added the 44-year-old. “I’ll be breaking the heart in two for two daughters.”
