STUNNED shoppers in Solihull were treated to a series of impromptu fitness demonstrations on Saturday as staff from the new VILLAGE Hotel Solihull worked up a sweat in Mell Square.

Members of the Velocity Health and Fitness team showed off their expertise with a series of BODYCOMBAT sessions led by the hotel’s Leisure Club Manager, Richard Lockstone.

The demonstrations were staged alongside a huge Winnebago which is currently touring the area to raise awareness of the gym and its facilities.

The new £22million hotel, which will create 100 jobs, opens on October 12 but its Velocity Health & Fitness Club is open now for viewing and sales tours. The state-of-the-art fitness club boasts a 5,000 sq ft of gym equipment plus a 20 metre pool with sauna, steam room, spa pool and hydrotherapy pool. It also includes three studios for group exercise classes and a dynamic personal training zone, which features Technogym Omega – a first for the UK.

Richard, who will manage the Velocity Health & Fitness Club at VILLAGE Solihull, has moved to Solihull after a series of exciting roles around the world.

He said: “The Velocity Health & Fitness offering at VILLAGE Solihull really is like no other in the area – or in the UK for that matter.

“The BODYCOMBAT we demonstrated is the most popular martial arts based group exercise programme on the planet and at VILLAGE Solihull it is one of many exercise programmes that will be led by world class instructors in a state-of-the-art studio.”
