IN response to the ‘Can do better’ (Letters), I couldn’t agree more! The system at Yew Tree Medical Centre is a constant source of frustration.
You can not get an appointment to see a doctor generally for seven days. How do you guess you might be ill in a week’s time? The line for appointments is opened at 8.45am and usually jammed. When you do eventually get through (ringback not available) the first appointment is usually seven days ahead unless you are lucky.
If the doctor requests you come back for a further consultation in, say, two weeks this can not be booked at reception that day because it is more than seven days away! What a trial for the elderly and long-term ill.
This whole system is not patient-friendly and needs a serious review. Is it our NHS or not?
