Grace and Hannah Montgomery, from Marston Green, had been on holiday in the Dominican Republic when their A-level results came through.

During their break in the Caribbean, both girls went down with a nasty bout of gastric flu and had to receive hospital treatment.

They recovered from the bug and returned home last Wednesday - finally receiving confirmation of their grades.

Proud mum Tracy said: “It was a real horrible time on holiday, with both girls and their younger brother getting gastroenteritis - it was nice to get some good news at the end.

“I’m very proud of what both of them have achieved. They do try to be different and there are ways of telling them apart, but they are alike in many ways.”

The girls had taken A-levels in English, psychology and media at The Sixth Form College, Solihull - racking up four A*s between them.

In October, they’ll be starting a media course at Birmingham City University, in Perry Barr.
