Youngsters stumped for something to do should jump to it and book their place on a range of new coaching courses on offer at an Acocks Green school.
Staff at Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College have teamed up with P and B Coaching to offer the after school sessions which are aimed at all ages and all abilities.
Football, cricket and trampolining are already proving popular with children at the Victoria Road school and now younger pupils from feeder schools are to be given their chance to benefit from the coaching.
Karl Hemmings, head PE at Archbishop Ilsley, said: “This is a collaboration between the school and P&B Coaching – a sporting partnership.
“There’s not a lot else for the children to do in Acocks Green so these sessions give them a focus, gets them off the streets and offers them high quality sports coaching.
“Things take place at the leisure centre but children seem more comfortable in their own environment. The school is familiar and it is the centre of the community.
“Archbishop Ilsley is traditionally a sporting school and we have good facilities. The courses also mean we can extend these facilities to children at our feeder schools. Some already use the swimming pool and attend summer camps but this will open the facilities to many more.”
