AN INNOVATIVE Solihull company has scooped the West Midlands’ Export for Growth awards for its ‘plug and play’ electric solar generator.

Aceon Solar created the world’s first four pin solar powered docking station, SolarSDS, which can be used to power low energy home lighting and electronic devices as well as acting as a stand alone energy source.

After beating off eight other finalists in a recent event at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre to win the coveted Export for Growth award, the company will now receive £5,000 worth of support and advice from UK Trade and Investment, PwC and HSBC for SolarSDS to help grow worldwide sales.

Managing director, Mark Thompson said: “We are absolutely delighted to win such a prestigious award against some very good companies.

“Our SolarSDS is a product with a worldwide market and with the help from UKTI, we can and will be an international company.”
