SOLIHULL Council Apprenticeship Show 2013 was a huge success, attracting nearly 1,800 parents and young people wanting to find out about apprenticeships and talk to local employers.
The show brought young people into contact with local employers Jaguar Land Rover, Mansell/Balfour Beatty, BT, Artemis, CouchPerry Wilkes, Secure Trust Bank and IAC.
On hand to support were a range of training providers, the National Apprenticeship Service and Solihull Council’s employment and skills team to advise and guide young people as they decide their future careers.
Michelle Williams, managing director of Artemis Executive Consulting, said: “Following our preliminary conversations at the Show we will be inviting five youngsters in for formal interviews with a view to appointing a number of apprentices at Artemis.
Councillor Ken Meeson, Leader of Solihull Council, said: “The success was down to a great combination of employers, training providers and the Council all under one roof and able to offer a complete package of help to get young people into work and training.
“Promoting apprenticeships is part of our ambition to create a brighter future for our young people and build a prosperous Solihull. Apprenticeships could play a major part in achieving these aims.”
