Solihull cake maker has hopes to turn professional

A TALENTED ‘cake sculptor’ from Shirley is hoping to carve herself a career as a professional baker.

A TALENTED ‘cake sculptor’ from Shirley is hoping to carve herself a career as a professional baker.

And Samantha Strecker, aged 33, is already one step closer to her dream after she bagged a top award at the NEC’s Cake International show recently.

The mum-of-two won the silver award for her ornamental cat, made out of individual pieces of cake.

Samantha’s daughter Lexy also entered the competition and achieved a ‘certificate of merit’ for her Harry Potter creation.

“We entered very last minute just as a bit of a mother and daughter thing for us to do,” the former sales worker told us. I never imagined I would win anything, I was delighted.”
