ORGANISERS of last Saturday’s Solihull Carnival in Tudor Grange Park have praised everyone who took part on the big day despite the pouring rain which lashed the event.

Shirley Round Table and Shirley Ladies Circle, who are behind the event, battled against the elements to ensure proceedings ran smoothly with a packed programme of activities to entertain all the community.

Helen Halstead, chairman of Solihull Carnival, said: “On the day it was like a scene out of Singing in the Rain and I couldn’t help but join in with the spirit. Yes, rain did not stop play at Solihull Carnival last Saturday and what a glorious feeling it was!

“I would like to give a huge thank you to all the participants, stallholders, Bob Wilson’s fun fair and all the people who came, as well as all those involved in the organisation of the event at Shirley Round Table and Shirley Ladies Circle.”

Planning is already underway for next year’s Solihull Carnival on June 12 and anyone interested in getting involved can contact Richard or Helen Halstead from the carnival team on 07778 476979.
