IT'S been another year of improvements for Solihull Council, who measured among the best councils in the country in a recently published performance table.
The borough council's standard of services was in the top 25 per cent of councils according to targets set by the Government.
Areas where the council has done particularly well include education, with higher GCSE passes in grades A*-C, reduction of road fatalities and litter levels falling in public roads and highways.
The council's results publication also highlights the range of awards and national recognition the council has received. These include awards for customer care, reducing
homelessness, community sports, parks, communications and schools commitment to arts.
Coun Ken Meeson, Leader of the Council, said: "We're committed to continuously improving services for local people and our council results give them the chance to see how we're measuring up.
"The fact that we're doing so well in many of the areas that matter to local people and matching or bettering some of the top performing councils is a real achievement when you consider the savings that we have had to make on our budget.
