AN ambitious bid to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes by biking from Blackpool to Brighton is gathering pace after local businesses have thrown their support behind the venture.

AN ambitious bid to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes by biking from Blackpool to Brighton is gathering pace after local businesses have thrown their support behind the venture.

Roy Marsan and Glenn Darkin, two former TA recruits, and their Biking4Heroes team, will take to the roads in August in support of former and serving soldiers.

The group will travel between the two seaside towns over the space of a week, making stops along the way to collect cash for the charity.

Their plan has recently been promoted by local hair salon, The Hair Company at 170, Streetsbrook Road.

Simdean Envirotec Ltd based at Shrewley has also donated a van for the team for the expedition.

Roy, aged 55, said: “We are extremely grateful for all of the donations we have received so far and for the support from local businesses.

“It is vital that people keep donating to this worthy cause. It’s not about how many sores we end up with, it’s about raising as much money for Help for Heroes as possible.

“Training is going well but the bad weather is making it very difficult for us at the moment.”
