SOLIHULL Council have been stuck with a million pound bill on services for unaccompanied children seeking asylum.

In this financial year alone, the borough will spend over £4million on care and fostering services. The UK Border Agency has agreed to pay just under three quarters of the cost, leaving the borough with a £1.1 million shortfall. It blames Solihull Council’s high child care fees.
