The panel had originally received the application for a sex establishment licence from Jenny Law, owner of the lap dancing club in the High Street, on January 14.

The Honey Club, which opened in 2009, requires the new licence as part of the Policing and Crime Act 2009, brought in to give local authorities more regulatory powers over sexual entertainment venues while previously only sex shops or sex cinemas required a licence.

Solihull Council adopted the powers last year which means all establishments offering ‘sexual entertainment’ must hold a sex establishment licence by March 31.
