A ROMANTIC Solihull golfing engineer decided to surprise his partner with a birthday gift she would never forget.

A ROMANTIC Solihull golfing engineer decided to surprise his partner with a birthday gift she would never forget.

Bob Hill flew him and birthday girl Julie Painter out to the exotic island of Mauritius where he told her they would be doing a charity sky dive.

“It was a fabulous experience with Julie and I enjoying every thrilling moment of it,” said Bob.

“And we managed to raise £343 in sponsorship for charity.”

Bob, who has looked after all the golf buggies and equipment at Marriott Forest of Arden’s championship golf course for 14 years, presented the cash to the New Life charity on the couple’s return.

The generous daredevil last year helped organise a hotel staff bike ride for New Life, the hotel’s nominated charity, which cares for disabled and terminally ill children, and he’s hoping colleagues will join him in another fund raising sky dive.

Marriott Forest of Arden general manager Eamonn Thompson was full of praise for Bob’s fund raising efforts which he said were “typical of the tremendous community spirit” shared by his hotel team.
