A mother and daughter proved they were a cut above the rest after donating their long hair to a children’s charity.

Dimple Chauhan and her four-year-old daughter Devika had their luxuriant tresses chopped at The Hair & Body Shop in Hall Green this week.

And for little Devika, the hair cut was a first-time experience.

Dimple, who lives with her daughter, husband Jeet and two-year-old son Kairav in Solihull, said schoolgirl Devika had always wanted to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust organisation.

The charity provides real hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment

The teacher said: “She’s never had her hair cut and it was past her knees.

“I’ve always had long hair so I’m getting mine cut, too, in support of my daughter.

“The last time I had my hair cut it was four years ago.

“We are trying to raise money for the Trust – they pay £350 for a wig so we just need an extra push.”
