SOLIHULL MP Lorely Burt has vowed to pursue multi-national companies that attempt to wriggle out of paying tax.
She said that there was no excuse for mega-conglomerates not paying their fair share and the Government would ensure they were taken to task.
Speaking weeks after being appointed to a new role at the Treasury, she said there would be a major crackdown on tax-dodgers.
“My message to these corporations that are not paying what they should be is that I’m coming to get them,” she said.
“We have no problem with companies making a lot of money but they have to pay their fair share - particularly in this financial climate.
“If directors on their fat cat salaries are trying to avoid their responsibilities, it creates an uneven playing field and is totally unfair on smaller businesses.”
