IT was one of those inspirational moments that burst upon the scene once in a while and change life’s direction.
Marie O’Regan was idly flicking through gift hamper websites on the internet when it dawned on her “I can do better than this”.
Each Christmas ex- teacher Marie had put together quirky but quality hampers and baskets for family so why couldn’t she do it on a commercial basis?
Little Brown Label – it got its title from the fact that Marie always liked receiving presents wrapped up and sporting the old-style traditional brown name tag labels – is based in Chadwick End near Solihull from where hampers and boxed presents make their way across the country.
It’s a family business with Marie’s son Sean taking the general manager role after he found it difficult finding a job following a year off with a broken back.
Now mother and son, of Balsall Common, have sourced luxury goods from not only top-of-the-range names but small cottage industries.
Marie said: “We feel passionately about keeping UK industries alive at whatever level and that’s where most of the products for the hampers come from.
She added:“We’re intent on building the Little Brown Label brand and so confident are we of that we’ll be successful, we have also bought the Little Green and Little Pink domain names for future expansion.”
