A BOROUGH mum raised over £1,800 for the hospital that carried out emergency brain surgery on her toddler.

Alex Awdrey, who turns two this year, needed an operation after he fell out of his pushchair and suffered two bleeds on the brain.

Mum Alina was so grateful to staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s neurosurgery ward that she decided to give something back.

The mum-of-two, of Knightsbridge Road, organised a charity Zumbathon at the Land Rover Social Club.

Before Christmas, Alina visited the hospital and presented the cheque for £1800 to the medical team.

The money was used to repair the TVs on Ward 10, which looks after children aged from six months to 16 years.

n Alina will be starting a new set of zumba classes on Mondays and Thursdays at Olton Friary, beginning on January 30.

For more information, call Alina on 07932673331 or Pauline on 07803584570.
