THE Solihull News is proud to announce it’s first ever Business Person of the Month, in partnership with the Marriott Hotel Forest of Arden.
Former primary teacher Collette Brown, from Shirley, was “absolutely delighted” to be the first recipient of the award, launched to celebrate Solihull’s “unsung heroes in business”, for her innovative new business Create-Build-Learn.
“I was in shock. I never expected to receive something like this. It’s just taken off so quickly,” she said.
Launched last year, her company provides fun and educational parties using every kid’s favourite building block LEGO.
“My son has always been LEGO mad but when I couldn’t find anything for him I thought I’d give it a go myself.
“We create everything, from robots to cars which children then race down our ramps and we’re even creating animation workshops. You can see how much difference it makes to children’s imaginations and creation skills.”
Collette was presented with her award by hotel general manager Eamonn Thompson, at the awards luncheon last week.
“She is very enthusiastic and has a very good concept,” said Mr Thompson. “I think she will do very well.”
The busy entrepreneur will be invited back to the Marriott at the end of the year where one monthly winner will be crowned Business Person of the Year.
