Two locals who are pulling on their running shoes in aid of Age UK Solihull are looking for one more fundraiser to complete their team.
Knowle resident Craig Newton and James Sloane, from Dickens Heath, are part of a team of runners who have joined forces for the BUPA Great Birmingham Run.
The pair, aged 31 and 28 respectively, have begun a tough training regime to prepare themselves for the October 20 event.
“We chose to run for Age UK Solihull because so often older people are forgotten and we wanted to do something to help them. We hope we will raise lots of money for them. Running for a local charity is helping us stay motivated,” they said.
Fundraising manager for Age UK Solihull, Emily Cooper, said she hoped someone would snap up the last spot and be given a place in the team, in exchange for raising a minimum of £200.
“This is the first year we have had a team of runners at the BUPA Great Birmingham Run and we are really excited about it,” she said. “There are going to be lots of Age UK Solihull supporters cheering them on the day. I hope we will find our tenth runner to join the team.”
