LITTER louts are being encouraged to become more of a ‘takeaway and take it home society.’

Meriden’s MP Caroline Spelman has been highlighting the problem of litter on the borough’s streets after she recently took part in the Big Spring Clean.

The MP said: “By taking out a bin liner and actually rooting out rubbish from grass verges and hedgerows I became more aware of the scale of the local litter problem.

“The liner was soon filled with carelessly discarded plastic bottles, empty cartons and old wrappers.

“Not only do these items look unsightly and spoil the view for anyone passing by, but they also do incalculable harm to the environment.”
