CASH-strapped Solihull Council has told residents they must pay if they want their garden waste collected over winter.
Regular fortnightly green waste collections finish on either Friday, November 30 or Friday, December 7, depending on the collection cycle.
However the council is offering four extra collections in December, January, February and March, if residents are happy to fork out £31.50 plus VAT for it.
Councillor Kate Wild, cabinet member for community services, said: “We know there are plenty of green-fingered residents who don’t let the winter months put them off getting into their garden. Hopefully they will find the offer of these extra collections a useful one.”

Regular fortnightly collections of green waste will resume from either April, 1 or April, 8 2013. For more information visit www.solihull.gov.uk/recyclingcollections.
