A 'Know Your Risk’ roadshow – highlighting the chances of getting Type 2 diabetes and how to reduce it – will be held in Solihull next week.
The event will be held on April 8 and 9 in Mell Square from 9.30am-5.30pm. Diabetes UK has partnered up with Tesco to deliver the tour across the country with the aim of reaching more than 27,000 people with potentially life-changing information over two years.
In the UK, there are 11.5 million people at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and an estimated 2.9 million people already diagnosed with the condition.
In Solihull, 13,138 people are living with diabetes and a further 2,666 people have diabetes but are yet to be diagnosed.
Peter Shorrick, Diabetes UK Midlands regional manager, said: “Four out of five of us can make healthy lifestyle changes that will delay or stop us getting Type 2 diabetes.
“There’s nothing scary about our roadshow. Our volunteers and qualified dietitians will take you through a series of questions to tell you how likely you are to develop Type 2 diabetes over the next ten years.”
