Staff and residents at Ardenlea Court Nursing Home in Solihull and the Priory Nursing and Residential Home in Shirley will be taking part in a week of activities for Bupa’s Wildlife Week (May 7 to 13), focusing on helping to boost the house sparrow population.

The care homes are calling for help to create sparrow-friendly gardens, as part of the Save the Sparrow campaign backed by bird charity, the RSPB.

Ardenlea Grove has taken the lead by inviting the Animal Mania mobile zoo to visit on Tuesday, May 8.

Manager Sam Okeh said: “It’s a great way for residents to appreciate the fresh air and for those who may not be as active, simply drawing attention to any wildlife around them.”
