Solihull sisters in the spotlight

SISTERS from Solihull will soon have wowed the crowds on both sides of the Atlantic.

SISTERS from Solihull will soon have wowed the crowds on both sides of the Atlantic.

Straight from drama school, Dani de Waal has landed the role of leading lady in Mamma Mia!

The 21-year-old, from Solihull, will be starting her stint starring in the West End musical in June.

And she’s had a tip or two from her older sibling Jeanna, who recently took centre stage in one of Broadway’s biggest shows.

Dani, who has only just finished her training at Guildhall drama school, said she couldn’t wait to get started.

“I thought I’d give auditions a go, went along and ended up getting the part,” said the former St Martin’s pupil. “It’s a great show to be part of and I’m really pleased because I’ve got a meaty acting part.

“As an actor you’re always looking for your next job, so it’s nice I won’t have to worry about that for 12 months.”

Dani said that she got interested in acting while still at primary school, joining the David Eden Theatre School.

And she’s in the lucky position of being able to ask her big sister about life in the limelight - Jeanna also made her debut on the West End.

“We used to live together in London before she moved out to New York. I’d see her getting ready for shows.

“I’ve spoken to her since I got the part and now I’m just look forward to starting the rehearsals.”

Jeanna, aged 22, has been appearing in American Idiot - singing opposite Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Proud dad Hendrik, a local dentist, is bowled-over that both his daughters have won leading roles in jukebox musicals,
