A DRIVER has been banned from getting back behind the wheel after she was caught without insurance.
Leisa Dingwall, of Peel Close, Hampton-in-Arden, appeared before Solihull Magistrates Court on Monday following the incident on October 13, on the A452 Chester Road.
Prosecuting, Malcolm Stoddard, told the court another car had broken down and had moved to the side of the Chester Road. Dingwall failed to stop in time and collided with another vehicle.
The 39-year-old defendant, who was not represented, told magistrates her view of the road was obscured by traffic in front of her and she was unable to change to another lane in time. She said she was short of cash and was planning to buy insurance for the car the following week.
Dingwall was given six points on her licence and fined £240 for having no insurance. Because the defendant had already racked up six points for previous offences, she was banned from driving for six months.
There was no separate penalty for the driving without due care and attention charge.
