OLTON, Catherine de Barnes and Hasluck Green post offices have been threatened with closure along with more than 2,000 branches nationwide.
On the one hand I feel I can sympathise with the Post Office, after all they are a business and need to make a profit.
At the moment they claim to be losing £4m a week - which let's face it, is not good for any company.
But the way they seem to be chopping branches here, there and everywhere just doesn't seem fair.
In Catherine de Barnes for example, it's the only Post Office for two miles.
Imagine an elderly lady who doesn't have internet access or a bank account or a car but needs to pick up her pension. How easy will it be to get across to the nearest branch?
Obviously for a vast number of people, there are alternative methods of paying bills etc, but there are still hundreds out there who rely on their Post Office as the life blood of the community.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has piped up saying the Post Office may reverse their plans if enough people respond. Let's just hope that's true...SUPL:
