FED-up residents armed with speed guns were putting the brakes on speeding drivers last Thursday.
Locals in Tidbury Green, Hampton-in-Arden, Balsall Common, Knowle and Solihull teamed-up with police for the operation.
They were out in force on the roads where reckless motorists regularly break the speed limit.
PC Sharon Grant said that the aim of last week’s crackdown was to send a strong message to drivers.
“Motorists driving at excessive speeds through local communities are putting other road users and pedestrians at risk.
“By working together with residents we hope to raise speed awareness amongst thoughtless drivers who speed through local areas.”
Those clocked speeding will be sent letters, warning them to keep to the speed limit in future.
Speedwatch, a community-led initiative, was first launched in the borough a few years ago.
