A FIREWORKS display, which might have been cancelled for the first time in 35 years, has been saved by generous businesses.

Solihull Round Table were worried that their annual show might fizzle out - hit by the recession - and a few months ago issued an urgent appeal for help.

But November 5, or thereabouts, will be remembered after a number of new sponsors came forward.

Organiser Karl Thorpe said: “This is absolutely fantastic news and we are very grateful to all of those who have helped make it possible.”

Borough businessman Paul Sura, who owns Paul’s Discount Fireworks, is among those to pledge support.

Help has also come from Smooth Radio, who will be providing a DJ for the occasion, Solihull Council and Touchwood shopping centre.

Companies or individuals still have a chance to help out. If you’d like lend a hand call Karl on 07879 466385 or email him at Solihullrtfireworks@yahoo.com
