Stars of the Cineworld

IT was certainly an ‘out of this world experience’ for a Solihull film buff when he celebrated his birthday as a Star Wars stormtrooper.

IT was certainly an ‘out of this world experience’ for a Solihull film buff when he celebrated his birthday as a Star Wars stormtrooper.

Avid fan, Leigh Foxall from Streetsbrook Road, held a private screening of the original 1977 film at Cineworld in Touchwood last Saturday (August 6) to mark his 40th birthday with around 70 friends and family members turning up - many dressed as characters from the iconic movie.

Leigh aka Stormtrooper said: “I am absolutely Star Wars mad so originally I was going to hire the cinema for myself but then lots of people said they wanted to come along too.

I went to see the original film when I was six and I just loved it.

My daughter Lola dressed up as Princess Leia and lots of mums and dads were taking photos of us in Touchwood.”

Life as a super fan doesn’t come cheap as Leigh, who has his own his transport business, paid more than £1,000 for his costume.

“It’s made from the original mould by a chap who owns the design in London. I was there for a few hours having it fitted!”
