A SOLIHULL dance teacher has been nominated for a prestigious dance award.

Catriona O'Brien of Learning Curves School of Dance has been nominated for the International Dance Teachers Association "John Dilworth Scholarship Award for Freestyle Dance."

Catriona qualified to professional dance teacher status in July, after successfully achieving her IDTA associate examination.

She has been a member of Learning Curves School of Dance from the age of seven, taught by Principal Lian Fisher throughout this time.

"I have been training dancers for their professional status for over six years and Catriona is the first of my students to be nominated - I'm so very proud of her," said Lian.

Nominees will be invited to an interview with the president, president elect and members of the board of directors.

The selected four winners will receive £500 towards their further IDTA training.
