MORE help should be available for groups like the Royal British Legion (RBL) to hold street parties, a borough councillor has argued.
Coun Claire O’Kane (Lib Dem, Olton) said that the costs of parades continues to spiral upwards.
Earlier this year, Solihull Council said it wouldn’t be charging for temporary road closures for community events.
But Coun O’Kane said that despite this many local groups were under financial pressure.
“There are still huge costs attached to marshalling these events,” she said.
Last year, the growing amount of money needed meant there wasn’t a Remembrance Day Parade in Olton.
