Students launch plea for project

ENTERPRISING students from Solihull College are desperately seeking a community project which they can sink their teeth into.

ENTERPRISING students from Solihull College are desperately seeking a community project which they can sink their teeth into.

Ideally the project should be in the north of the borough and last for a fortnight.

The youngsters, aged from 16 to 18, are ready to start a project on Monday and have already raised £500 to pay for any tools and materials that might be required.

One of the youngsters, Luke Ballard, confirmed: “We’re ready to start work now, but at the moment, we haven’t got anything to do and we’re hoping readers can help.

“Basically we’re able to do refurbishing work such as painting and decorating or restoring gardens and grounds. We wouldn’t be able to do any electrical work or anything like that.

“There’s 13 of us on the course and two staff. We need to complete a community based project as part of our coursework.

“It might be that we could refurbish a village or church hall, something like that, but it has to be a project that will challenge us and that is community based.

“Just now we’re looking at a blank canvas and time is running out.

“We need to hear from people with any ideas as quickly as possible”.

IF you have any suggestions of a project the students could undertake, please contact team leader Joe Dowds on 0121 678 7496 or 07760 409832. Alternatively they can e-mail him at joe.dowds@solihull.ac.uk.
